Whisper by Mark Batterson

As Christians, we all long to hear the voice of God. Know we know that it's not exactly an audible voice. We know that God doesn't "talk" to use like we would talk to our friends, family or others around us, but we do know that God will converse with us in other ways. In Whisper by Mark Batterson we are shown 7 different love languages that God uses to create that intimate relationship that we are always longing for.

Now, I am not too familiar with Batterson's works, I have only read one of his books in the past, but I have to say that this book is amazing! It has shown me just how much I have been missing out on hearing God speak to me. I have noticed that through the different love languages of God (dreams, doors, people, prompting, pain, scripture and desires) that I might have been hear from God all along and just missing the little things.

Batterson takes our focus away from the large signs that we are keeping an eye out for and switched that focus on looking at the small, often over looked signed, that God is sending to let us know that He is listening to us and having an on-going conversation with us.

I have taken a step back and started to reevaluate a lot of what has been going on lately, especially if it was something I can't explain, and noticing that God has really been conversing with me A LOT more than I truly thought. I have become more aware and conscious about the little things in my life and wondering if that was God.

I think this is one of the most impactful books that I have read while on my Christian path. It really is a wonderful book and one I think anyone would learn a few things from. I will keep going back to this book, and plan on reading it again right now, to see what else I can glean to help me hear God better.
