The Attributes of God Volume 2 by A. W. Tozer

I have been longing for books about God with more substance and less fluff which has lead me back to some of the traditional writers. While on this path I stumbled across an A. W. Tozer book and loved his writing. He is very theological and straight-forward.

In reading The Attributes of God, I found there were somethings I like and others I didn't prefer. This edition of the book includes a study guide and I will get to that in a minute. As for the writing from Tozer, I loved it. Getting to know more about God through reading about His sovereignty, love, faithfulness, and ever eternal self was a great pleasure. To know more about my faith, I must first know more about my God and Tozer helped me grow a deeper understanding of who He is. Even though reading his writing isn't always easy and it's, at times, very deep, I leave the book with a stronger understanding of some of the attributes of God.

As for the study guide, I can't say that I like it. The guide is written by David E. Fessenden and while he delves even deeper into what Tozer says, reading it felt more like reading a commentary than a study guide. I liked some of the points he made, but again, not really a study guide.

I have mixed feelings about the book in general, but not about Tozer's writing. I always love reading his thoughts and would have loved to hear him speak.
