CSB Reader's Bible

A lot of people say that there reason for not reading through the entire Bible is that they get so distracted and to be honest, there are lots of Bibles that have so many extras that it get really hard to concentrate on which part is Bible and which part are extra. The CSB Reader's Bible was created to fix that problem.

The Christian Standard Bible translation was new for me seeing as I have never used that one. I liked that it was easy to read, but it felt very similar to the NIV to me. It's said that this translation tries to stay as close to literal without losing any clarity and I feel they accomplished that. It really is an easy to read translation and I appreciate that with this type of bible. What I also appreciated was the type font. I know that this might seem like a small thing, but the 10 pt font was a nice change from some of the smaller fonts that most Bibles have. It made the reading a little more enjoyable.

Now, as for the format...

If you are wanting to just read through the Bible, this is the perfect book for you. If you are like me, and love to cross reference, word study, etc, I would say skip this one. No, it's not meant to be a study Bible, I understand that, but I like to do a little extra sometimes to help understand God's word better. They have removed all references of verse from the book and this really does cut down on distractions, but if you look closely, at the bottom of the page they give you the book and chapter you are reading. So, there is essentially a way to reference what you are reading, but you still have to figure out which verse you referring.

One more feature of this Bible is lovely. They covered the hardbound book with grey cloth and include a box for you to slip it in when not in use so you can keep your Bible looking great!

Overall, I liked the concept of this Bible, but it's definitely just for reading, not for studying. If you have someone knew to their faith and just want to read the Bible, I would suggest this one.
