Parenting Beyond the Rules: Raising Teens with Confidence and Joy By Connie Albers

In this ever evolving world that we call home it's hard to find solid ground to stand on, much less help our children do the same. We are constantly being told what we should be doing, how we should be parenting and being judged when we doing something that society might deem as wrong or inappropriate. It's especially hard when you are in the season of the teen years and they are being bombarded by society on who "they should be." In Parenting Beyond The Rules, Connie Albers shows us how we can make the most of the teen years in our child's life and how to move beyond the "rules" and form genuine relationships with our teens that will last a lifetime.

What I loved about this book is that it was a new look on getting though the "tough" teen years from a mother who has had many, many years of experience. It was refreshing to read a book where it's not a doctor or professor preaching to me about how I could raise my kids. She is a mother who has been in the trenches and KNOWS exactly how hard, and rewarding, those years in your child's life can be.

We all know that connecting with a teen can be difficult, but Albers gives you some amazing, practical tips in how you can do just that and create an amazing relationship with your teens. Her approach is, in my eyes, simple and effect, and I can't wait to start implementing her suggestions into my parenting life.

I highly recommend this book to any parent. Even if you don't currently have a teenager in your life, you will sooner than you think, and Parenting Beyond The Rules will become an indispensable resource for you. I know it's one book that I will constant keep referring back to all the time.
