Book Girl by Sarah Clarkson

As you all know, I love books. I mean, why else would I have a blog that's all about books!!! Something I haven't seen before through all the books I have read is a book about books. Now, that's new. Book Girl by Sarah Clarkson is just that. A book about books and the impact they have on your life.

I loved this book more than I thought I would. I have always been one to understand the power of reading and how it can build your character. Reading is powerful and I feel that we have lost respect for it in the most recent years so I strive to encourage a love of reading in my children by leading by example.

Clarkson, who I am quite familiar with since I love the books her mother (Sally Clarkson) writes and Sarah has co-authored, writes about how books can affect every single part of your life, including your spiritual life. What was the best part, to me, where the amazing reading lists that she has complied. Some of the books on the 20+ lists are ones I have heard of and then there we others that are new to me, but have definitely been put on my to-read list.

One of the things that stood out to me what her praise of the Harry Potter series. I have read all of the books and they are unbelievable reads. I get quite tired of seeing them demonized and was pleasantly surprised that she say the value in theses books. I won't tell what she had to say so you will have to read the book for yourself to see what she saw in the books, hidden beneath the text.

I will be going back through this book, over and over again to find new books to add to my reading list and checking them off one at a time until I have read everything she has suggested. It's really a wonderful book about the power and importance of reading and the value of books.
