Ruth: Discovering Your Place in God's Story by Eugene H. Peterson
Most of us already know the book of Ruth very well since it's one of the two books of the bible name after a woman. We have also studied this book many, many times in our Sunday school classes and church lessons. What I know with most of us have not done is read the book of Ruth in the Message version of the bible. This is the translation that this study uses and to be honest, I really liked the different point of view while studying.
Now, as for the study, this book was MADE to be written in and marked up. There are tons of question throughout that will have your mind working overtime to take a fresh look at an old, and sometimes over done, book of the bible. The reflection questions sound and do a wonderful job of having you dig deeper into the text and find out what lies beneath the surface.
The feature that I thought was a really great addition to this study is the coloring pages that are throughout the entire book. They are beautiful and the thick pages make it possible for you to use many different medium on them, whether you like colored pencils, crayons, or markers. You will be completely enthralled with the scenes. I was a little concerned that they would take away from the study, but found that they actually amplified what I was learning.
Overall, I think this is a wonderful study and I really want to get the other two books that are a part of this series.
